Order once, not four times

The single most expensive mistake in a local campaign is buying signs in waves as money comes in.

500 signs, two ways

Five orders of 100, double-sided$4,375
One order of 500, double-sided$3,875

Same signs, same printer. $500 difference, which is a mail piece.

Double-sided, almost always

A sign on a corner lot or a busy two-way road is seen from both directions. Single-sided means half your placements only work half the time.

At campaign volumes the second side adds $1.75 a sign, which is the cheapest incremental reach you will buy all cycle.

Timeline

  1. Six weeks out: artwork finalized, order placed
  2. Five weeks out: proof approved
  3. Four weeks out: signs in hand, boxed by precinct if you asked
  4. Then: volunteers place them, and you still have time to reorder if placement outruns supply

Volume orders run 5–7 business days at the printer, and the last weeks before an election are the busiest of the cycle for every sign shop in the county. Early is cheap. Late is not always possible.

Design that works at 40 mph

  • Name large, everything else small. The name is the ad.
  • Two colors beats four. Contrast beats cleverness.
  • No script fonts, no photographs, no slogans longer than three words.
  • Office sought in plain type underneath, not squeezed into a banner.

Stakes and logistics

Metal H-stakes come with every sign. For orders over 200 we can box them by precinct or district so your volunteers are not counting signs in a parking lot on a Saturday morning.

One thing we do not do

We print for campaigns across the spectrum and we do not check your disclaimer language. Florida political advertising rules are your campaign's responsibility, and they are worth confirming with counsel before you print 500 of anything. The Division of Elections publishes a campaign advertising FAQ, and city and county placement rules are separate — check both.

Questions we get

How many signs does a local race need?

A municipal or district race commonly runs 200 to 500. County-wide runs more. Order in one batch rather than several: 500 signs at once is $6.00 each, while five orders of 100 is $6.75 each, a difference of $375.

Should campaign signs be double-sided?

Almost always. A sign on a corner lot or a busy two-way road gets seen from both directions, and single-sided means half your placements are wasted. Double-sided adds $1.75 a sign at campaign volumes.

How far ahead should we order?

Six weeks before you want them in the ground. Volume orders run 5–7 business days at the printer, and the weeks before an election are the busiest of the cycle.

Do you handle the stakes?

Metal H-stakes are included with every sign. For large orders we can have them boxed by precinct so your volunteers are not counting in a parking lot.

Is there anything you will not print?

We print for campaigns across the spectrum. We will not print something defamatory, and we do not check disclaimers for you — Florida political advertising rules are your campaign's responsibility and worth confirming with your counsel before you print 500 of anything.
